Interview: If Hope Dies (The Grits and the Anger and the Long Chat Session with the vocalist)

Sitting down with the water bottle on my table, I switched on the PC to found out that i needed to interview a band and, well, what better way to start our session with a bang than with Mr. Aakash Sherpa, the vocalist of Siliguri based Modern Metal band If Hope Dies.

H: Well, It's been a year since Dictum Meum Pactum(the band's first 'official' single), why the absence?

A: First of all we were kinda amateur so our writing procedure lacked somewhere... But still we gave our best shot you know we gave our 100% it sounded fine... 1st single lacked production and everything but still we got to capture few attention bagged few good reviews!



H: Seeing as the year passed, how much has IHD’s sound matured?

A: Umm well maturity comes with the time!! And more dedication/practice... We worked super hard for this new single and hence it is sounding good and not amateur like the 1st one... And we have full hope that the production will be much better this time!!!


H: As for the new single’s name, “The Eternal Mindfuck”, what was the motivation behind the in- your-face title?

A: Ummm it’s pretty simple... And I prefer simple writing using easy words so that people can sing along and understand well... to tell you we are pissed off with many things!! And this song happened to be one of the pissed/aggressive song!!! It’s all about people trying you to bring down... Talking shit behind and all that stuff!


H: Well, how was it stepping into the studio after a solid year of tours and everything? Were the techniques rusty?

A: Well we wanted to record new single soon but there were lineup changes some ups and downs... We were kinda dormant for few months searching for a perfect replacement and all... Now it’s perfect! We entered studio and started recording like retarded people... Hitting every note perfectly we wanted to sound it perfect!! Umm techniques well it has always been the same gather write quality music make changes here and there and jam, hit the studio! Bang!


H: OK, final question to take it to the bank. When can we expect the finished product and is there any plans for an album, perhaps an E.p. or sorts?

A: New single hopefully mid of Jan...I can’t promise regarding E.p. or something! We are still working on it... And we have tons of songs to write... Better ones!
