RAWRR's Best Of 2013

2013 has been an unpredictable year. Many bands came, went, gave an impact on the genre or just disappeared. 2013 was the year where a lot of artist got their long awaited releases into fruition. as the year ends, let's look back at the moments, the music and the albums that made us say 2013 as the year music grew and expanded.

I See Stars -  New Deamons 
 All the songs and by all I mean ALL the songs in this album are gems. My personal favourites? "Murder Mitten" and "Violent Bounce (People Like ¥øµ)" .

Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal
I nearly forogt all about this beast of an album.The new musical direction the band has chosen to take pissed off some people(keyword being "some") but hey you dont see me complaining! Personal favourites are "Shadow Moses" and "Anti-Vist".

Alesana - Fatima Rusalka (Single)
 Alesana made fans wait for quite a long time for new music.All in all,this single kicks ass, Shawn sounds great,Dennis sounds more powerful (The Emptiness days anyone?) and the band seems to have perfected their sound.Surely worth the wait!

An enthralling album which will tell you a story which takes you to a whole new level of awesomeness!

Killswitch Engage - Disarm the descent

 Breaks my neck, everytime.

Eminem -The Marshall Mathers LP 2 

Do I even need to say.  Eminem's technical rapping skill and production choice is sure to blow your mind. Indeed, a rap god.

Punkanation- The State Of Mind On The Violent Side

 Punkanation's third and final album once again succeeds in bringing back punk and garage rock to the scene.

Bastille's - Bad Blood

 A record which has got the right dose of modern pop, indie, rock and some bollywood moments(or is it only me?) thrown in for some good measure. Dan Smith has, arguably, written the most fresh album to have come out of year '13.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories 

An EDM duo that gave computer music the deserved break decides to go back in time and write an album that's so fresh and amazing, it's hard to skip even the fillers. That's Random Access Memories in a nutshell. 

Jai Paul - Jail Paul

Though it wasn't an official release, you can't deny the fact that it was the most strange yet exceptionally beautiful pop album(?) of the year. Even those tiny snippets in the album are enough to convince one how amazing the inal release is going to be.

Local Act:

Polar Lights - "A Murder Machine"

What a fresh new track by the pop/rock band from Nagaland. Surprising to know that it was their debut single as a band.

We Butter The Bread With Butter - Goldkinder

What i expected more from WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER some more heavy stuff at times they fit in my box but not that point i can jump off.

August Burns Red - Rescue & Restore

August Burns Red is the most consistent band i came through. Year after their tracks are more powerful and ambitious and the guitarist likes to explore the new heights with this new album. But whatever the critic says "I love ABR"

What says black metal more than a pink album cover,this album makes you daydream into a pink tinted dimension where your soundtrack is perfectly amalgamated with blast beats and fast guitars which drive into an euphoric trance ,this album clearly depicts chaotic beauty and you could relax to this one on a beach,thematically and beautifully done,Deafheaven made a record no one wanted and its perfect

Plague Throat(Shillong) - An Exordium To Contagion 

A 3 piece Death Metal force as the moniker suggests, the songs crackle with haughty intensity and the syncopation between the kick drum and the guitar is chaotic ,one of the tightest bands in the scene they churn out proper pit anthems,avoiding cliche sounds and reviving old-school death.This will appease the devotees of death metal. 

The Vinyl Records (Delhi) - Whims

Not exactly an album but a four track ep by an all girl post-punk band , the lyrical themes and the sounds differ track to track from lyrical themes such as feminism and anarchy and exploding into psychedelic soundscapes thrown in for a good measure. All eventually coalescing into a hypnotic racket

The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die - Whenever, If Ever

A classic midwest emo album.

Enemies - Embark,Embrace

You can't not dance to this brand of tropical-ish math rock.
