Hello! We are The Hype Theory and we consist of
Katy on Vocals, Sean on Guitar, Tom on Guitar, Jack on Bass and Josh on Drums.
Which bands would you cite as your influences?
We are influenced by so many bands but our main influences are bands
like Jimmy Eat World, Young Guns and Mayday Parade.
As a band that has survived the initial jitters that involve things
like line up changes and bad shows, what advice do you have for the aspiring
upcoming bands?
Just focus on writing good songs, its the most important part of being
in a band so put all your efforts into that and the rest will follow in time.
Do you get compared to other female fronted bands like Tonight Alive
or We Are The In Crowd?
Yes we do from time to time, but i guess its just a natural comparison
to make. We don't mind who we are compared to, as long as they don't suck!
In your recent release, Captives you seem to show a much deeper and darker sound. Could you tell us about the writing process of the record and how was it different from your previous ones.
We have all grown up a lot since Glory Days, so it just felt natural to write a darker, edgier record. The writing process for Captives was nothing special, we just all sat in Katy's flat for about 3 months, got our heads down and wrote songs that meant a lot to us. Thankfully it turned out ok :)
Can we expect the sound to evolve further in the future releases?
We have already started writing album no.3 and our sound is already evolving and we have only demoed a few tracks, its going to be interesting to see what everyone thinks when it comes out, but we are a long way off that at this point.
Do you have a venue/festival where you dream of performing someday?
Well I would have said Warped Tour but we already played the UK leg of it! We just need to do the american warped tour and then we will know we have done something really special.
I have no idea, our whole lives revolve around music so its hard to
think what else we would be doing. Maybe we would be vets haha!
Whats your highest score in flappy bird?
Sean has the highest out of all of us and its 379
Any words for your fans here in India?
Thanks for your support and we hope to make it over there one day!
