Review: Multinational Corporations - Jamat-Al-Maut EP

The human race has come a long way since its dawn and we have existed twenty centuries, and in this period we have invented, discovered, killed, seen, loved, tasted ,and have achieved all the things possible within our capability. Unfortunately our race has forgotten to move on and live human lives, through the past few centuries we have committed far more atrocities and showcased our monstrosities in detail. People are being led as sheep into invisible prisons where they are told what to do; our individuality is smothered and we are molded into sentinels of perfection. The (majority of) the world has simply forgotten how to read-between-the-lines and seek the truth which has resulted the masses being controlled unknowingly and being led to live forced lives in enclosures, while the essence of life itself is brutally raped. Fortunately there are things which aren’t fabricated or overflowing with intent of deceit and are completely pure and true, almost like the kryptonite against the scum and the lies they execute that lead us to ruin. But then again it is very hard to recognize truth in the modern world as we are being bombarded by lies all the time, from advertisements to news our brain is being shoved by senseless information but then true music has always come to rescue and to release us from this depression that weighs our minds down. Grind has always been one of the most abrasive genres around as it has always rebelled against conventional song structures and melodies .It’s obviously not a genre which anyone can easily understand, as one has to undergo ear-training to listen to opera, well the same goes for grind.

Pakistan being one of those countries where oppression looms like thick fog, thanks to the jihadists and the capitalists’ .Most people have a misconception about the music scene in Pakistan which is constantly neglected because the perception of terrorism being its superior basis of identification Thus it is very natural for the disenfranchised youth to rebel and vent about the state of their country. Multinational Corporations are grind duo which have thrived amongst all the chaos and have put out a thirteen- minute EP (approximately) called Jamat –al –Maut which translates as the “The Congregation of Death”. Explosive –machine- gun –opener "Fuck Your Patriotism" gives a simple idea of what the listener is in for, Taliban-raping-iceberg heavy title track "Jamat-Al-Maut" stands as a piece of art,it sends you right into the albums atmosphere of an angry cry against all the injustice .Blast- beat Laden "Stratum Slave" comes in next which speaks about how material excess has turned us into slaves. "Advertisement Overdose" is a mosh worthy track which clearly says how the outdated term “idiot- box” should be changed to” asshole -screen” and denies to fall prey to the capitalist trap of advertisements. "L.P.C" comes in next which in an abbreviation of “Lund pe Charh” which translates as ‘sit on my dick’ for your listening pleasure , it shows how the band stick to their punk roots and has a nice guitar solo thrown in there. "White Collar Communism" builds up slowly and escalates into a heavy beatdown which will have a crowd kick each other in the teeth. The next track "Salaab" which means flood , is basically a reality check as well as a wake- up call because to build something new ,one has to destroy the old as it asks the people to change their mindset and see how fucked up living conditions technically are. Closing track "Penniless Pride" is a slow paced requiem to the album which ends with a soaring guitar solo.

Jamat-al-maut is a beautiful album, beautiful in the manner of how deep boiling fury and anger is vented into eight short songs and I recommend you to blast it in your stereo to startle some corporate motherfuckers .Music wise the grind and crust influences can be heard easily on this album, fans of Napalm Death, Discharge and Brutal Truth should totally check this out, this is an impressive effort and they sure have gained my respect and support. It’s very hard to know what to do to oppose injustice and lies because dissident voices aren’t tolerated in a contemporary society ,well Multinational Corporations have shown us a way to contradict the system with something true and genuine. When you are born you’re bought up in an "idyllic society" , where you don’t see any problems but of course there are problems and things aren't the way they appear to be…. But eventually you weed out all the lies.
