The Shillong Battle Rock was started last year with
an aim to provide a platform for local artistes and bands to showcase and
compete against each other, the event turned into a All India Beat Contest,
with more than 50 bands participating from across the North East and as far as
Delhi. Midnight Garden Factor was adjudged Winners and Dosser’s Urge as
runners-up. Both bands walked away with Rs. 1 lac and Rs. 30,000/-
respectively.
This year’s edition aimed at not only providing a
platform for musicians to compete against each other, but to promote these
talented artists even after the event through gig support, concerts, media
promotions etc.
The Prelims for Local bands will be held on the
24th September while the Outstation band will battle for their place in the
finals on the 25th September. The Grand Finale will be held on the 26th
September at the State Central Library premises. MGF and Dosser’s Urge will
headline the event.
The Event is being organized by SCENE and Evenflo,
powered by CMJ breweries (Magpie, Nutcracker 9000, Savage, Red Indian),
co-sponsored by Melody, supported by Dept. of Arts and Culture, Govt. Of
Meghalaya and TNT (Magazine partner).
