Motionless In White. This breed of evil motherfuckers have been making some noise from quite some time now and are definitely on every modern metal enthusiasts playlist with the release of their new album 'Reincarnate'. I've personally been following this band from a long time, since the release of 'Infamous' to be exact and am totally in love with their tunes. Reincarnate, released on Sept 15 in the UK and a day later worldwide, was a much anticipated release of the year following their 2012 album Infamous. Calling themselves the underdogs who come through and push everyone else out of the way put in the bands front man Chris's words they have definitely come a long way from where they started. And are definitely going a long way.
With songs for everyone from metalheads to the goths to the rivetheads this album has a lot to offer. Opening with the heavily electronic track 'Death March' you can tell Chris's vocals have definitely improved. With the backing keyboards and industrial guitar riffs you can make out the transition from a Metalcore to an Industrial sound they've been striving to achieve. The title track 'Reincarnate' which was first released as a single off the album is undoubtedly what attracted the mass attention to this album. Chris's cleans on this track can be compared to that of Benjamin Burnley's from the band Breaking Benjamin. With its fast paced guitar riffs and synth this song is one off the album that won't fail to turn you on. The third track with guest vocals from Dani Filth from the band Cradle Of Filth sure surprised me. One of their guest appearances you shouldn't miss, this track is a must listen for any metal fan.
Four tracks into the album 'Unstoppable' is my personal favorite and has one of the most intense, jaw dropping breakdowns out of all the other tracks. With the way this track sounds you can clearly tell they are finally comfortable with their new sound. The guitars, drums and synth go hand in hand in sync with Chris's vocals which give the track a great sound. 'Everybody Sells Cocaine' is another track worth listening to, especially for the choir girls chorus 'D-R-U-G-S Today!' which brings about a humorous atmosphere to the track. The sixth track 'Contemptress' is an appealing song for fans of female screamers with another guest vocalist Maria Brink of In This Moment. Her sensual and hypnotizing vocals leave you wanting more.
'Final Dictvm' the twelfth track on the album is another track with guest vocals from Tim Skold who has previously been associated with bands like KMFDM and Marilyn Manson. The eerie feel of this song relies heavily on the synth and is the most industrial sounding track on the entire album. The album closes with the track 'Carry The Torch' which is a tribute as Chris calls it, to the heroes in his life that have made him what he is today.
This album is significantly a huge step up from the bands previous records as it is musically more diverse. The production too has taken a turn for the better and the lyrics are more darker and well versed compared to their previous material. It's got a new sound to it but you can still make out it's Motionless In White. They have finally released an album with a sound they are satisfied with and something they want rather than going for what the fans wanted. Well, lets face it, at the end of the day its them playing the songs.
This album stands out as proof of the hard work that has gone into making this album a success. This band is definitely going places.
