This creative published by the official Sunburn Festival
page takes complete freedom to cut out the entire Northeastern region of the
country from the Indian Map. (Find the creative Here )
After they published this via their official page on the
10th of November, a sizeable number of people showed their discontent regarding
the same. However, instead of the reasonable act of deleting the creative and
putting up a fresh one with the complete map and apologizing for the same, this
is what they had to say:
"Sincere apologies to all our friends from North East India.
This social media graphic was just for to show the vibes are coming from every
part of the country - we didn't have any intention of missing any states or
part of the country. Its just a visual representation.
As a brand - Sunburn is INDIAN and its because of each and
everyone of you from every corner of India. We will make sure we include
everyone the next time we put up a map of India. We love you all!! "
How does somebody miss out states on a map and how can a map
be ‘just a visual representation’? Since when has the Indian map been left open
to the interpretation of the Sunburn Marketing team? And how do the people at
Sunburn expect to get away with this by simply stating that they will ensure
NORTHEAST INDIA is included next time around? Do they realize that tampering
with the map, to start with, is an offence?
ITS BEEN 9 DAYS AND THEY HAVE CONTINUED WITH THIS ACT OF
DISCRIMINATION DESPITE INNUMERABLE COMMENTS AND MESSAGES SHOWCASING PEOPLE’S
DISCONTENT OVER THE SAME.
CONDEMN THIS ACT. SUNBURN MUST MAKE A PUBLIC APOLOGY.
