Review: Babymetal - Self Titled Debut Album

It's funny when Japan tries to do something funny and weird. Of all the Anime, Variety shows and the meme induced culture in Japan, there really isn't anything that makes Japan worth mentioning. Yeah, it's a major driving force in Animation and well, there isn't much of Musical exposure.
Slandered by a plethora of Wotagei fanboys and Visual kei aficionados  comes a group of 3 girls who have conquered the internet and the world with their branded (Kawaii Metal).

There isn't really much more to say about Babymetal. It's a Group which off shot from their parent Idol Pop group "Sakura Gakuin" and Started their Legacy from a Split E.P with Famed Japanese Metalcore band "Kiba Of Akiba" and Got Viral from their Debut Single, "Doki Doki Morning".

This Album is just a culmination of their early E.P's and 2 New songs.

Babymetal Death: It's just there to heighten your senses. Not much lyrics and just a filler/intro to the album.

Megitsune: The 5th official single with over 2 million hits on YouTube  Mixing Metalcore Chugs with melodious Japanese folk singing. This song showcases a head banging induced breakdown with neon synths and just plain fun.

Gimme Chocolate: This song is bad. Doesn't have any memorable moments aside the Happy as hell chorus which kinda offputs the whole song's feel.

Iine: This single was released with Doki Doki morning. This song has all the Jpop Happy Hardcore DDR type beats with a rap section and *gasps* breakdown.

Akatsuki: This song has a heavy death metal vibe to it. And a matured Suzuka singing it. Has a slow vibe and gets to it's summit in the end.

Doki Doki Morning: The Single that started it all. The Synchronized dancing, the "ding ding ding" chime and the mosh inducing chorus.

Onedari Daisakusen: This song is kinda weird. Its the first song in the album which has Moa and Yui singing. And it has a nu metal (pre limp bizkit era) rapcore vibe to it. The lyrics are somewhat Weird "Papa Daisuki" But, the cuteness of their voice brings new power and energy in the song.

Uki Uki Midnight: Metalcore chugs with a Mosh induced Dubstep section. Suzuka's Voice reigns again.

Catch Me If You Can: A filler song. Babymetal By numbers. The song gets energetic by the end

Rondo Of Nightmare: The Best Song in my opinion. Has a dark tone to the track and an Archenemy-ish/*insert random melo metal band with girl vocalists* core bands.

Suzuka sounds Beautiful in this and shows that her voice is as beautiful as her.

Uta no 4: A weird song with a ska section and the abundance of "Yo Yo" vocals. An amusing listen.

Headbangya: With a Black metal synth intro leading to another mosh induced chorus. Their most Mosh induced track.

Ijime Dame Zettai: A power Metal influenced track, with was the pinnacle of Suzuka's vocal. This is by far their most energetic song ever.

Overall, this album has it's moments which are somewhat overshadowed by their over production. Some tracks like Ijime dame zettai and Gimme choko should've been given less effects to make it sound raw and powerful. But, then again they are 15 years and below.

YEAH. 15. BLAMMM. DAYUUM I PULLED AN M.NIGHT SHYAMALAMN ON YO ASS. FOO'S GET OWNED ON THE MASSIVE. ...

Much better, Xanax never fails.

Babymetal isn't a band to be taken seriously because it's a pop group and this variety is what makes the group worth noticing.
